that we're PREGNANT!
I was sick for a couple of weeks at the beginning of October, and finally went to see my doctor. He said I probably had some stomach virus, and sent me home with a prescription for some medicine to help. When I left the doctor's office, I realized that it's the first time they haven't take a urine sample from me (they usually do as they know dh and I have been trying to conceive). So, I decided that when I got home from the appointment I would take a test just to be sure, and before I started the prescribed meds. Well, you can imagine my surprise when the pregnancy test showed positive!!
Dh works from home, and he was on the phone at the time, so I wasn't able to tell him right off. Instead, I needed to leave for a work appointment. So for about three hours I wasn't able to tell a single soul (except my doctor's office, which I called immediately), and instead had to keep this incredibly, wonderful secret to myself. On my way home from work, I picked up a little "I love my daddy" baby toy, and pizza for dinner. As we were eating, I told dh that I had something to show him, and I presented the toy from behind my back. I'll never forget the look on his face! He looked at me, then back at the toy, then to me again, and asked,"You're pregnant?" I think after having to promise a few dozen times that it was true, he finally believed me, and he was excited.
And thus started the whirlwind of this new journey.
We are officially two months along today, and after some initial scares in the beginning (light bleeding), everything has been going well. Well - well enough. Quite honestly, I could do without the extreme nausea and disgust of nearly all thoughts, sights, and smells of food, but that's another story.
Lots of changes are in store, but we're looking forward to them. What an exciting time!
